Romania's capital, with a population of 2.2 million. Known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards, glorious Belle epoque buildings and a reputation for the high life (which in the 1900s earned its nickname of "Little Paris"), Bucharest, is today a bustling metropolis.

In the centre of the capital, there is a small artificial lake, Lake Cimigiu, surrounded by the Cimigiu Gardens. Bucharest has a diverse and growing cultural scene, with a booming cultural life in the visual arts, performing arts and nightlife.

The city has a rich jazz and blues scene, and, to an even larger extent, house music/trance and heavy metal/punk scenes. Bucharest host some of the best electronic music clubs in Europe such as Studio Martin and Kristal Glam Club
