City profile

Deggendorf is a small city, with a population of only 33,000: this means you can reach everything by foot.

The town is situated  at the foot of the mountains, in the Bavarian Forest and is often refered to as referred to as the "Gateway to the Bavarian Forest" because of its location in the Danube valley, where the Isar flows into the Danube. The wooded hills rise up from the town square with its wide market streets, the Old Townhall and its imposing Gothic tower.

Deggendorf is now a modern and vibrant city that is the cultural and economic centre of the region. Over the past two decades, the city has experienced a rapid urban development.
