Programme profile

Is it possible to calculate the optimal squad for Manchester United Football Club? Can you predict the price trend for the coming year of a specific equity fund? Econometrics and Operations Research is about finding solutions to complex problems. It is a mixture of economic theory, applied mathematics and statistics.

Every day the news is full of macroeconomic figures. Just think about productivity rates, stock prices or growth rates. Econometricians use this immense amount of economic data to predict the future. If you decide to study Econometrics and Operations Research you will learn to construct mathematical models to analyse economic data. With these models you will be able to compute the unemployment rates of a country, the Gross national Product, thestock price of a company or the future exchange rate of the Euro.

The modules in the propaedeutic phase serve as the foundation for the remainder of the programme. Throughout the programme you will deepen and broaden your knowledge in the four major topics: Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Operations Research and Actuarial Studies.
