2000 Irish students studying in The Netherlands
The number of Irish students opting to take a full degree through English, in Continental Europe, continues to rise. Official figures from the Netherlands reveal that some 2000 Irish students were studying in the Netherlands in the 2023-24 academic year.
Ireland, has jumped above the US as a provider of students to Dutch universities. With a smaller population than all the other top nations that send students to the Netherlands, Ireland is no doubt one of the top providing nations, if measured by a percentage of school-leaving population.
The city that is most popular with Irish students is the city of Groningen, with students at both University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen.
The other countries that are popular with Irish students include Poland and Italy.
