Safety and Security Management Studies offer an opportunity to develop competencies aimed at adding value to the public governance of safety and security for those who want to make a difference in the public service. The programme is aimed to train you to be a professional Security and Safety Manager, harness your academic insights and channel them into the public governance of safety and security, without losing sight of the importance of the citizens you will be serving.
In the first year, you will explore the fundamentals in the public governance of safety and security. All themes of the second year are aimed at "making things work". What value can a professional add to the management of safety and security. What are the specifics of doing so in an urban environment, within the public arena? Year 3 focus on professional values. The final module in this year is spent in the field, working on a project Year 4 is spent working in the public safety and security practice. During the year the student benefits from close coaching. For institutional cooperation, the programme focus is on India, Brazil, Morocco, Southern Africa, the United States.
