Programme profile
This programme looks at both historical and modern visual arts, as well as the history of architecture, urban planning and landscapes. You will learn to understand works of art: their origination and aesthetic, together with cultural and social value.
Programme content
In the first year, you will study the most important artworks and buildings from Antiquity to the present day. From the second year onwards, you will explore Art History by using different themes. In the second year you will also make a trip to Florence to study works of art on location. In the third you will choose a field of interest, such as visual arts, architecture, urban planning or landscape history. Within these fields you will pay special attention to the theme of cultural heritage.
Entry Requirements
Three A-Levels (at CCC, or above) and three GCSEs, in six different subjects
Six passes at Leaving Cert., inc 2 x H5. Minimum 350 points.
